LASER safety.Abstract
LASER is an acronym for the phrase Light Amplification by the Stimulated Emission of Radiation. Most medical lasers emit light which are either ultraviolet, infrared or in the visible spectrum of light. When used by personnel with proper knowledge and training, LASERS are safe for patients and personnel. Identification and recognition of potential hazards of surgical LASERS and compliance with established standards reduce the possibility of injury or accident caused by improper use.
