Abstract
It has been for a long time observed that, in the specific case of a patient suffering with aphasia, the medical examination also evidences a comprehension disorder in a variable degree, along with deficient language output. The authors of this article did not focus on the element of understanding, but only on the element of expression language (Broca’s aphasia motor); they review starting from the 15 th and 16 th centuries to the present the researchers tackling Broca’s aphasia. The outstanding merits regarding motor aphasia belong to the French physician Pierre Paul Broca and his report of his first patient Leborgne.
