Abstract

The emphasis of this chapter will be on the application of bioinformatics tools and database to identify and characterize novel gene targets, which is of interest to pharmaceutical companies. A pharmaceutical bioinformatics must design a system a system for converting bulk data and analyses into experimentalist-accessible knowledge. The integration of bioinformatics, molecular biotechnology and epidemiological methods of assessing disease risk is rapidly expanding our ability to identify genetic influences on complex human disease.
